    (1.) Наречие enough всегда стоит после прилагательного, глагола или наречия: not good (warm) enough недостаточно хорошо (тепло); quickly (easily, often) enough достаточно быстро (легко, часто); not to sleep (eat) enough мало спать (есть). (2.) При указании цели, для достижения которой чего-либо хватает или не хватает, используется инфинитив или инфинитивный комплекс с предлогом for или предложная конструкция: it was early enough to go there on foot было достаточно рано, и туда можно было пойти пешком; he is clever enough for this kind of job он достаточно умен для такого рода работы; the question was easy enough for her to answer ей было достаточно легко ответить на этот вопрос.     There was hardly enough time — Времени едва хватало.

    It was nearly (quite) enough — Этого было почти (совершенно) достаточно.

    (2). Enough сочетается с существительными в конструкции с предлогом of, если при этом существительном, кроме enough, есть еще определения, выраженные определенным артиклем, указательным или притяжательным местоимением:

    Is there enough of the white paper? — Белой бумаги достаточно/хватает?

    Ср. Is there enough white paper?;

    We have had enough of your tricks — С нас довольно твоих фокусов.

    Enough сочетается с личными местоимениями также в предложной конструкции с предлогом of:

    enough of it,

    enough of them.

    (3). Русские мало, недостаточно, не хватает передаются отрицательными предложениями с прилагательным enough:

    I have not got enough time — У меня мало времени.

    He hasn't got enough money to buy a car — Ему не хватает денег для того, чтобы купить машину.

    (4). Прилагательное enough может стоять после определяемого существительного, если есть указание на адресата или цель:

    We have food enough for all — Еды хватит на всех.

    We have time enough to go there and back — У нас достаточно времени, чтобы пойти туда и вернуться.

    (5). Enough может употребляться в функции дополнения к глаголу to be, если в качестве подлежащего предложения выступает местоимение:

    That's enough — Этого достаточно.

    I don't think it will be enough — Я думаю, этого не хватит/будет недостаточно.

    В тех случаях, когда в качестве подлежащего выступает имя существительное, enough употребляется в функции определения к существительному:

    There is enough bread — Хлеба достаточно.

    There is not enough time — Времени мало/не хватает.

    Ср. We had an hour before the time. It was enough — У нас был еще целый час. Этого времени было достаточно.

    (6). See easy, a (1). II adv достаточно, довольно (1). Наречие enough всегда стоит после прилагательного, глагола или наречия:

    not good (warm) enough — недостаточно хорошо (тепло);

    quickly (easily, often) enough — достаточно быстро (легко, часто);

    not to sleep (eat) enough — мало спать (есть).

    (2). При указании цели, для достижения которой чего-либо хватает/не хватает, используется инфинитив или инфинитивный комплекс с предлогом for или предложная конструкция:

    It was early enough to go there on foot — Было достаточно рано, и туда можно было пойти пешком.

    He is clever enough for this kind of job — Он достаточно умен для такого рода работы.

    The question was easy enough for her to answer — Ей было достаточно легко ответить на этот вопрос.

    (3). Сочетание just enough соответствует русскому как раз столько, сколько нужно. (4). Русскому сочетанию довольно интересный ( длительный, большой) в значении весьма соответствует в английском языке сочетание со словом rather, а не с enough:

    The article is rather long — Статья довольно длинная.

    The book is rather interesting — Книга весьма интересна.
